Understanding blindness for sighted people is a difficult concept. The books suggested below are a glimpse into what it can be. But more so these books are about strength, endurance, empowerment and relentlessness.

One can feel nothing but awe at the capabilities and of visually impaired people. We have so much to learn from them. They are gifted, they are fighters, they are focused......... they are awesome! Subhanallah !

Parental Guidance is needed to discuss this book. Please review the book yourself before sharing with your kids.

Videos

(The following do contain a lot of music)

We preferred watching it with the volume turned down and complete silence, and try and experience how it must be for deaf people

Would you like to  learn atleast basic sign language to be able to express basic thoughts and expressions the next time you come across someone who needs to use it.

Wouldn't it be a touching moment to be able to say hello and thank you to someone you felt you didn't know how to approach ?

It's about compassion and understanding......

THE EXPERIENCE

Took my for the, ASL story telling event and must say it was one of the most inspiring experiences that I got to share with my kids. You have to do it to understand the power and beauty of seeing people so deep in conversation yet the room was quiet ! Absolutely loved being around such an amazing. Brought back sign language books and my kid have been teaching themselves ASL since then. The respect and compassion we have all felt as a family is indescribable. And the discussions priceless.
